Since I started my tiny little garden, nature has been trucking along. The potatoes and beets have come up. The cabbages are getting larger. The carrots, sadly, have been largely washed away.

To the lower right in this picture, you can see a low spot. This was caused by an animal burrow that allowed water to flow out of the garden into the lawn. If you look closely, there are still a few carrots in the low spot, but I’m going to have to replant on the left side.
I also have to pick out an awful lot of grass that has decided to sprout up in my garden. I’ve done around the carrots and beets, but I still need to get around the cabbage and potatoes. I really should think about putting down some biodegradable sheet mulch, like newspaper or cardboard.
